What the broker does
Hermes prices the shipment, searches for suitable capacity, checks the selected carrier’s federal authority and insurance information, prepares the dispatch and coordinates communication.
Hermes Auto Carriers Inc. is registered as a property broker under MC 1765386 and USDOT 4472602. It does not operate the truck transporting your vehicle.
What the carrier does
The motor carrier supplies the truck and driver, inspects the vehicle, loads it, transports it and issues the bill of lading. The carrier controls its driving schedule and is responsible for the physical transportation service.
Documents that prevent confusion
Before pickup, retain the broker agreement, dispatch confirmation and carrier identity. At pickup and delivery, retain the signed bill of lading and photographs. Prices and payment instructions should match the written documents.

Why not call a carrier directly?
Direct booking can work when the carrier serves your exact route and timing. A broker searches a wider carrier market and coordinates the transaction, which is useful when no single fleet covers both locations.
